The Art of War for Gamers

The Ultimate Guide for Gaming Strategy

Strategy is important in both virtual gaming and real-life battles. The art of war is important not just for teams but also for individuals looking to succeed in any competitive field.

A gamer plays on two battlefields, the virtual one inside the game and the external one where the gamers are. In the virtual battlefield, the gamer must master the game’s mechanics, strategies, and tactics to defeat opponents and complete objectives. The external battlefield is the social arena where gamers interact with each other, form teams, and compete against other teams.

Sun Tzu’s teachings in “The Art of War” can be applied to both battlefields. In the virtual battlefield, the gamer can apply Sun Tzu’s advice to know oneself and one’s enemy, to understand the terrain and the conditions of the battle, and to develop strategies and tactics that exploit the enemy’s weaknesses. On the external battlefield, the gamer can apply Sun Tzu’s advice to understand the motivations and strengths of other gamers, form alliances and coalitions, and outmaneuver and outsmart one’s opponents.

In both battlefields, the gamer must be adaptable and flexible, able to adjust to changing circumstances and to react quickly to unexpected events. The gamer must also be disciplined and focused, maintain a clear mind, and execute strategies and tactics precisely and accurately. And perhaps most importantly, the gamer must cultivate a winning mindset, confident, resilient, and determined to succeed.

Ultimately, playing on both battlefields requires the gamer to be strategic, tactical, and mentally strong and to apply Sun Tzu’s teachings in both the virtual and external battlefields. It’s important to remember that the ultimate goal is to outmaneuver and outsmart the opponents and emerge victorious on both battlefields.

Mastering the Corporate Game

Sun Tzu’s and Niccolo Machiavelli’s Principles & Strategies for Winning

This book is three books in one. It contains the entirety of Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Machiavelli’s The Prince as sections two and three, while the first section attempts to distill some of their core insights for application in your world. It offers examples and exercises to help you develop the skills to apply those insights in modern-business life.

This book is for those new to the world of business or those seeking to increase their opportunities for advancement and reward in business through a better understanding of the human dynamics at play and also increasing capacity and talents for strategic thinking.

The principles and philosophies of Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Machiavelli’s The Prince are as valid today as when they were written because human nature has not changed. The same human instincts, emotions, and desires are still driving all behavior.

Adapting the Art of War to the realm of competition and strategy for today’s business and corporate gamesmanship, or diplomatic intrigue, and any scenario involving negotiation is part of this book’s intention.

The same applies to adapting Machiavelli’s insights on power and leadership to climbing the corporate ladder, working for a non-profit, an NGO, or any other organization.

Where there are people, human dynamics (human nature?) are at play. Helping you master this strategic game is a goal of this book.

The book may seem repetitive in parts as both Sun Tzu and Machiavelli were repetitive as they applied their principles to different situations.

The way to use this book is to take a chapter and make note of the key points that are relevant to your current situation and the disparity between where you are and where you want to be. Use the exercises to help focus your efforts to increase strategic thinking.
